Lesson 129 

Beyond this world there is a world I want.

• beyond [bijάnd] : 「向こうに、かなたに」

❖　"Beyond this ~ "「この世界を越えた向こうに、私の欲する世界がある」。幻想世界の向こうに、あなたの欲する実相世界がある。天の王国である。もちろん、天の王国という言葉は比喩的な言葉であって、宇宙の彼方に実質的な楽園がある、という意味ではない。物質世界という夢が覚めたとき、真実で構成された想念の世界が現れる。それが実相世界であり、天の王国である。そこに通じる道は、あなたの心である。



1. This is the thought that follows from the one we practiced yesterday. 

• thought [θɔ́ːt] : 「思い、考え、思考、思想」
• follow [fάlou] : 「〜に続く、〜の次に来る」

❖　"This is the ~ "「この考え方は、昨日私たちが練習したレッスンに続くものでだ」。



You cannot stop with the idea the world is worthless, for unless you see that there is something else to hope for, you will only be depressed. 

• worthless [wə́ːrθlis] : 「価値のない、役に立たない」
• unless [ənlés] : 「〜でない限り」
• depressed [diprést] : 「精神的に沈んだ、意気消沈した」

❖　"You cannot stop ~ "「この世界が価値がないという考えで止まってはいけない」。"for unless you ~ "「なぜなら、希望を見出せる何かがあると知らない限り、あなたは意気消沈してしまうだけだろうから」。



Our emphasis is not on giving up the world, but on exchanging it for what is far more satisfying, filled with joy, and capable of offering you peace. Think you this world can offer that to you?

• emphasis [émfəsis] : 「重点を置くこと、強調」
• give up :  「あきらめる、断念する」
• exchange [ikstʃéindʒ] : 「換えること、交換」
• satisfying [sǽtisfàiiŋ] : 「満足な、十分な」
• capable [kéipəbl] of : 「〜ができる」

❖　"Our emphasis ~ "「私たちが強調したいのは、この世界を諦めるということではなく、もっと満足のいく世界、喜びで満たされ、あなたに平和を差し出すことの出来る世界とこの世界を交換してしまうことなのだ」。幻想世界を実相世界と交換すること、つまり、幻想から実相へ目覚めること、それが目的である。"Think you this ~ "「この世界が喜びや平和をあなたに与えてくれるなどと、あなたは思っているだろうか」。



2. It might be worth a little time to think once more about the value of this world. 

• worth [wə́ːrθ] : 「〜の価値がある、〜に値する」
• once more : 「もう一度」
• value [vǽljuː] : 「価値、値打ち」

❖　"It might be ~ "「もう一度、この世界がもつ価値について短時間でもいいから考えてみることは有意義であろう」。



Perhaps you will concede there is no loss in letting go all thought of value here. 

• perhaps [pərhǽps] : 「たぶん、もしかすると」
• concede [kənsíːd] : 「(敗北を)認める、(真実と)認める」
• loss [lɔ́s] : 「失うこと、喪失」
• thought [θɔ́ːt] : 「思い、考え、思考、思想」

❖　"Perhaps you ~ "「多分あなたは、この世界における価値観のすべてを投げ捨てても何も失うことはないと、認めざるを得なくなるだろう」。



The world you see is merciless indeed, unstable, cruel, unconcerned with you, quick to avenge and pitiless with hate. 

• merciless [mə́ːrsilis] : 「無慈悲な、無情な」
• indeed [indíːd] : 「実に、本当に、確かに」
• unstable [ʌ̀nstéibl] : 「不安定な、安定を欠く」
• cruel [krúːəl] : 「残酷な、むごい」
• unconcerned [ʌ̀nkənsə́ːrnd] : 「無関心な」
• unconcerned with : 「〜に無関心な」
• avenge [əvéndʒ] : 「仕返しをする、復讐をする」
• pitiless [pítilis] : 「情け容赦のない」
• hate [héit] : 「憎悪、憎しみ、嫌悪」

❖　"The world you ~ "「あなたが目にする世界は、実に無慈悲で、安定感を欠き、残酷で、あなたに無関心であり、すぐにも復讐し、憎悪をもって情け容赦もしない」。



It gives but to rescind, and takes away all things that you have cherished for a while. 

• rescind [risínd] : 「剥奪する、取り去る」
• take away : 「奪い去る、持ち去る」
• cherish [tʃériʃ] : 「〜を大事にする、〜を大切にする」
• for a while [hwáil] : 「しばらく、少しの間 」

❖　"It gives but ~ "「この世界は、与えたとしても、それは取り去るためにそうするだけだ」。"and takes away ~ "「あなたがつかの間大切にしていたものでさえ、すべて奪い去る」。



No lasting love is found, for none is here. This is the world of time, where all things end.

• lasting [lǽstiŋ] : 「長続きする、持続的な」
• found [fáund] : 「findの過去・過去分詞形」

❖　"No lasting love ~ "「継続する愛は見出せない」。"for none ~ "「なぜなら、そんなものはここにはないからだ」。"This is the ~ "「ここは時間の存在する世界であり、すべての事象は終わりを迎える」。時間の存在する二元論世界では、事象は常に変化流動し、すべては崩壊へと向かう。



3. Is it a loss to find a world instead where losing is impossible; where love endures forever, hate cannot exist and vengeance has no meaning? 

• instead [instéd] : 「代わりに、それよりむしろ」
• impossible [impάsəbl] : 「不可能な、とてもあり得ない」
• endure [indjúər] : 「持ちこたえる、持続する」
• forever [fərévər] : 「永遠に、永久に」
• vengeance [véndʒəns] : 「復讐、仕返し、報復」
• meaning [míːniŋ] : 「意味、意義、意図、真意」

❖　"Is it a loss ~ "「失うことが不可能な世界を代わりに探すことは損失だろうか」。"where love ~ "「そこでは、愛は永遠に持続し、憎しみは存在出来ず、復讐は意味をもたない」。



Is it loss to find all things you really want, and know they have no ending and they will remain exactly as you want them throughout time? 

• remain [riméin] : 「とどまる、残る、生き残る」
• throughout [θruːáut] : 「〜の間中」

❖　"Is it loss ~ "「あなたが本当に望むものすべてが見つかり、それには終わりがなく、あなたがそうあって欲しいと思ったままにいつまでもそのままであり続けると知ることは、損失だろうか」。



Yet even they will be exchanged at last for what we cannot speak of, for you go from there to where words fail entirely, into a silence where the language is unspoken and yet surely understood.

• exchange [ikstʃéindʒ] : 「〜を交換する、〜を引き替える」
• at last : 「最後に、ついに、とうとう」
• fail [féil] : 「失敗する、しくじる」
• entirely [entáiərli] : 「全く、完全に、全体に」
• silence [sáiləns] : 「静けさ、静寂、沈黙」
• language [lǽŋɡwidʒ] : 「言葉、言語」
• unspoken [ʌ̀nspóukən] : 「無言の、言葉にされない」
• surely [ʃúərli] : 「疑いなく、確かに、確実に」

❖　"Yet even they ~ "「だが、それさえも、ついには言葉で言い表せないものと交換されるだろう」。"for you go ~ "「なぜなら、あなたはそこから、言葉がまったく役に立たない世界へと行くからだ」。"into a silence ~ "「言葉が話されることはなく、しかし、確実に理解出来る、そういう静寂の中に入って行くのである」。



4. Communication, unambiguous and plain as day, remains unlimited for all eternity. 

• unambiguous [ʌnæmbíɡjuəs] : 「曖昧でない、明白な」
• as plain as day : 「極めて明白で」
• remain [riméin] : 「依然として〜のままである」
• unlimited [ʌnlímitid] : 「制限のない、無制限の」
• for all eternity : 「永遠に」

❖　"Communication ~ "「(言葉を介さない)コミュニケーションは、曖昧ではなく極めて明白であり、永遠に制限されないままである」。言葉がないから会話に制限が加わるのではないかと思われるだろうが、その逆である。



And God Himself speaks to His Son, as His Son speaks to Him. Their language has no words, for what They say cannot be symbolized. 

• symbolize [símbəlàiz] : 「〜を象徴する、〜を記号で表す」

❖　"And God Himself ~ "「そして、神の子が神に語りかけると、神自らが神の子に語りかける」。"Their language ~ "「彼らの言語は言葉を持たない」。"for what They ~ "「なぜなら、彼らの話すことは記号化出来ないからだ」。神と神の子は、言語化された言葉を通じて心を通わすのではない。心が直接通じ合うのだ。



Their knowledge is direct and wholly shared and wholly one. How far away from this are you who stay bound to this world. 

• knowledge [nάlidʒ] : 「知識、知恵、知見」
• direct [dirékt] : 「直接の、直々の」
• wholly [hóulli] : 「完全に、全く、全体的に」
• share in : 「〜を分かち合う、〜を共有する」
• bound : 「bind の過去・過去分詞形」

❖　"Their knowledge ~ "「彼らの叡智は直接的であり、すべて分かち合われ、完全に一体である」。神と神の子の考えや思い、知恵も知識もすべて含めて、直接結ばれており、分かち合われて一体である。"How far away ~ "「この世界に縛られ続けているあなたは、これとどんなにかけ離れていることか」。



And yet how near are you, when you exchange it for the world you want.

• exchange [ikstʃéindʒ] : 「〜を交換する、〜を引き替える」

❖　"And yet how ~ "「しかし同時に、あなたがこの世界をあなたの望む世界と交換するとき、あなたは、どんなにかこれに近づけることか」。



5. Now is the last step certain; now you stand an instant's space away from timelessness. 

• instant [ínstənt] : 「瞬間、まさにその時」
• away from : 「〜から離れて」

❖　"Now is the ~ "「今や最後の一歩は確実である」。"now you stand ~ "「今、あなたは、無時間からほんのちょっとだけ離れた場所に立っているのだ」。無時間無空間の実相世界にすぐにでも到達出来る位置にいる。最後のステップは必ず成就する。



Here can you but look forward, never back to see again the world you do not want. 

• forward [fɔ́ːrwərd] : 「前方に、先に、将来に」

❖　"Here can you ~ "「ここからは、前を向くしかない」。"never back ~ "「望みもしない世界を再び目にするために後戻りすることは出来ない」。



Here is the world that comes to take its place, as you unbind your mind from little things the world sets forth to keep you prisoner. 

• take one's place : 「〜の代わりをする、〜と交代する」
• unbind [ʌ̀nbáind] : 「解く、ほどく」
• set forth [fɔ́ːrθ] : 「説明する、表明する」
• prisoner [prízənər] : 「囚人、捕虜」

❖　"Here is the ~ "「あなたを囚われ人にするためにこの世界が説得する些細なことからあなたの心を解放するとき、その世界と置き換わる世界がここにある」。あなたを縛り付けるエゴの誘惑から心を解放するとき、幻想世界に代わって実相世界が現れる。



Value them not, and they will disappear. Esteem them, and they will seem real to you.

• value [vǽljuː] : 「〜を高く評価する、〜を尊重する」
• disappear [dìsəpíər] : 「存在しなくなる、消滅する」
• esteem [istíːm] : 「〜を尊重する、重んじる」

❖　"Value them ~ "「些細なことに価値を置いてはいけない」。"and they ~ "「そうすれば、そんなものは消滅する」。"Esteem them ~ "「もし些細なものを重んじたりしたら、あなたにとってそれが現実であるかのように見えてしまうのだ」。エゴの誘惑に負けて、エゴが差し出すあめ玉を欲しがったりしたら、そのあめ玉こそが世界で一番大切なもの、つまり、あなたの欲する現実そのものとなってしまう。



6. Such is the choice. What loss can be for you in choosing not to value nothingness? 

• choice [tʃɔ́is] : 「選ぶこと、選択」
• nothingness [nʌ́θiŋnis] : 「存在しないこと、無、無価値」

❖　"Such is ~ "「選択とは、そういうことだ」。エゴの差し出すあめ玉に価値を置くか、価値を置かないか、それが大切な選択。"What loss can ~ "「無なるものに価値を置かない選択をしたところで、あなたは何を失うだろう」。存在さえしない幻想を捨てても、あなたは何も失うことはない。



This world holds nothing that you really want, but what you choose instead you want indeed! Let it be given you today. 

• choose [tʃúːz] : 「 〜を選ぶ、〜を選択する」
• instead [instéd] : 「代わりに、それよりむしろ」
• indeed [indíːd] : 「本当に、確かに」

❖　"This world ~ "「この世界は、あなたが本当に欲するものを何も持ってはいない」。"but what you ~ "「その世界に代えてあなたが選択したものこそ、あなたが本当に欲するものである」。"Let it be ~ "「今日、それがあなたに与えられるようにしなさい」。幻想世界に代えて、実相世界があなたのものとなるようにしなさい。



It waits but for your choosing it, to take the place of all the things you seek but do not want.

• wait for : 「〜を待つ」
• take the place of : 「〜に取って代わる」

❖　"It waits but ~ "「実相世界は、あなたがそれを選択することを待ち望んでいる」。"to take the place ~ "「望んでもいないのに求めてきたものすべてと置き換えてしまうためである」。



7. Practice your willingness to make this change ten minutes in the morning and at night, and once more in between. 

• willingness [wíliŋnis] : 「意欲、やる気」
• once more : 「もう一度」
• in between [bitwíːn] : 「間に、中間に」

❖　"Practice your ~ "「朝と夜、そしてその間にもう一度、10分間、この交換を心からやるんだと思えるように練習しなさい」。幻想世界に代えて実相世界に生きるのだという意識を高めていくのだ。



Begin with this:

        Beyond this world there is a world I want. 
        I choose to see that world instead of this, 
        for here is nothing that I really want.

• begin with : 「〜から始める」
• beyond [bijάnd] : 「向こうに、かなたに」

❖　"Begin with ~ "「次の言葉で練習を始めなさい」。"Beyond this ~ "「この世界を越えた所に、私の欲する世界がある」。"I choose to ~ "「この世界に代えて、その世界を見る選択を私はする」。"for here is ~ "「なぜなら、ここには私が本当に欲するものが何もないからだ」。



Then close your eyes upon the world you see, and in the silent darkness watch the lights that are not of this world light one by one, until where one begins another ends loses all meaning as they blend in one.

• silent [sáilənt] : 「静かな、無言の」
• one by one : 「一つずつ」
• lose [lúːz] : 「〜を失う、見失う、喪失する」
• blend [blénd] : 「溶け込む、一体化する」

❖　"Then close your ~ "「その後、あなたが目にする世界に対して目を閉じ、静かな暗闇の中で、〜するまで、この世界の光とは異なる光を一つずつ見なさい」。"until where ~ "「一つの光が始まり、別の光が終わり、すべての光が一つに溶け込むにしたがい、あらゆる意味は失われる、そうなるまで、」この世界の光とは異なる光を一つずつ見なさい。詩的表現をしているので、解釈が非常に難しい。まず、"one begins another ends"であるが、幻想世界の光が消え、実相世界の光が輝き出す、と解釈も出来るが、"they blend in one"「一つに溶け合う」とあるので、幻想の光と実相の光が混じり合うことは考えにくく、実相の一つの光が始まり、別の光が終わる、と解釈した。"loses all meaning"「すべての意味が失われる」とは、この幻想世界がもっているすべての意味が失われる、つまり、この世界の存在意義が消滅していく、と解釈した。



8. Today the lights of Heaven bend to you, to shine upon your eyelids as you rest beyond the world of darkness. 

• bend [bénd] : 「曲がる、向ける」
• shine [ʃáin] : 「輝く、光る」
• eyelid [áilid] : 「まぶた」
• rest [rést] : 「ある、休む、静止する」

❖　"Today the lights ~ "「今日、天の光はあなたに向けられて放たれる」。"to shine upon ~ "「その光は、暗闇の世界を越えた所であなたが安らぐとき、あなたのままぶたの上に輝く」。



Here is light your eyes can not behold. And yet your mind can see it plainly, and can understand.

• behold [bihóuld] : 「見守る、注視する」
• plainly [pléinli] : 「はっきりと、明白に」

❖　"Here is light ~ "「これは、あなたの(肉体の)目がとらえることの出来ない光である」。"And yet your ~ "「しかし、あなたの心だけがその光を鮮明に見ることが出来、また、理解も出来る」。



A day of grace is given you today, and we give thanks. This day we realize that what you feared to lose was only loss.

• grace [gréis] : 「優雅、神の恩寵、神の愛」
• realize [ríːəlàiz] : 「〜に気が付く、悟る、自覚する」
• fear [fíər] : 「〜を恐れる、〜を怖がる」
• lose [lúːz] : 「〜を失う、見失う、喪失する」

❖　"A day of grace ~ "「今日、神の恩寵の日があなたに与えられ、私たちは感謝を捧げる」。"This day we ~ "「今日という日、私たちは、失うことを恐れていたものは、ただ単に消滅するだけだと悟るのだ」。ここは、"lose"と"loss"を並べて、詩的な言葉遊びをしている。失うこと自体が失われる、つまり、失うことは幻想だと知るのである。



9. Now do we understand there is no loss. For we have seen its opposite at last, and we are grateful that the choice is made. 

• opposite [άpəzit] : 「反対、正反対、逆」
• at last : 「ついに、とうとう」
• grateful [ɡréitfəl] : 「感謝する、感謝している」
• choice [tʃɔ́is] : 「選ぶこと、選択」

❖　"Now do we ~ "「今や私たちは、喪失というものは存在しないと理解する」。"For we have ~ "「なぜなら、私たちはついに、その正反対のものを知ったからである」。実相には喪失という言葉はない。真実の豊穣、それが実相の姿である。"and we are ~ "「そして私たちは、(正しい)選択がなされたことに感謝するのだ」。



Remember your decision hourly, and take a moment to confirm your choice by laying by whatever thoughts you have, and dwelling briefly only upon this:

        The world I see holds nothing that I want. 
        Beyond this world there is a world I want.

• remember [rimémbər] : 「〜を覚えている、〜を思い出す」
• decision [disíʒən] : 「決定、決断、決心」
• hourly [áuərli] : 「1時間ごとに、毎時、絶えず」
• take a moment : 「少し時間を取る」
• confirm [kənfə́ːrm] : 「確かめる、確認する」
• lay by : 「脇に置く、取っておく」
• dwell on : 「〜をくよくよ考える、思案する」
• briefly [bríːfli] : 「簡潔に、ちょっとの間」

❖　"Remember your ~ "「1時間毎に、あなたの決心を思い出しなさい」。"and take a ~ "「そして、あなたが抱いてきた考え方のすべてを脇に置き、ちょっとの間、あなたの選択についてよく考えて、あなたの選択をしっかり確認するための時間を少し取りなさい」。"The world I ~ "「私が目にする世界は、私が欲するものを何も持ってはいない」。"Beyond this ~ "「この世界を越えた向こうに、私の欲する世界がある」。
